Overview

The Board of Trustees is a working board that is actively involved in the daily operations of SSNDEC and is consulted on all major decisions. Tasks may include: fundraising, program updates, event planning, and administrative duties.

Commitment

Mandatory Board meetings are held quarterly in March, June, September/October, and December. 

 

Involvement
As a Board member, you must also be available to sit on one of our committees, each of which meets an additional four times per year. 

• Committee of Trustees: Responsible for the handbook; board recruitment; and board member orientation

  • Currently chaired by Ed Sweeney

• ​Development Committee: Responsible for leading fundraising efforts (organize and run our two major fund raisers and one donor thank you event) and recruiting community partners.  Also responsible for participation in community events

  • Currently chaired by Dan Esparza

• ​Finance committee: Responsible for planning and overseeing annual budget; investments; expenses; and income

  • Currently chaired by the Board Treasurer, Jane Laughlin

• ​Executive Committee: Comprised of the Chairs of all committees (Jane, Ed, and Dan), along with present and past Executive Directors (Francine Poppo and Sister Kathleen). Responsible for planning Board meeting agendas, reviewing documents, and meeting if special Board meetings are required (e.g., policy changes; conflicts of interest; large expenditure requests, etc).
